Legal Defense Fund
The Honest Chief Fund is a separate effort set up by PEER to help pay the rising legal costs of the campaign to return Chief Teresa Chambers to work.
This case is not about one person, Chief Chambers case is key to:
- Protecting the free speech rights of all federal employees;
- Securing the rights of public servants to communicate honestly with Congress; and
- Ending the bullying tactics practiced by the political appointees by guaranteeing due process for all federal public servants.
Through PEER, a private non-profit organization organized under Section 501 (c) 3 of the Internal Revenue code, your contribution will be tax deductible.

Your contribution will be used to pay legal expenses incurred in the fight to restore Chief Chambers and hold those officials who engaged in prohibited personnel practices accountable.
Please note: This is not a permanent fund and in the event that we prevail and recover all legal expenses or otherwise dissolve, any unused funds will be split among Concerns of Police Survivors (COPS) an organization that helps in rebuilding the lives of survivors of law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty, Honor Every Responsible Officer's Eternal Sacrifice (Heroes, Inc), a group dedicated to aid families of law enforcement officers and fire fighters who have died in the line of duty in the Washington, D.C. Metropolitan area and PEER who will use the funds to help other public servants facing the same challenges that confront Chief Chambers.
